Hi my name is James! This is a place to share all the joys, tears, triumphs and fears that we encounter as a family living with Cerebral Palsy.
I am 2.5 years old and LOVE to play. I am very active and will talk your ear off if you let me. My favorite things to do are watch Blues Clues, color, say my letters and throw a ball.
I was born 2 months early and spent the first 30 days of my live in the NICU. At 6 months old my parents started to notice that I was not meeting milestones like I should. We were first told I was just behind becuase I was a preemie. When I was 9 months old I had my first surgery to correct my eyes from crossing. We learned later that this is a CP warning sign and at 15 months I was DX with Cerebral Palsy. It is believed that when I was still in my Mommy's tummy I had a stroke and that is was caused me to be born so early.
On June 10th my life changed forever. I had a Spinal surgery called Selective Dorsal Rhisotomy. This is a surgery that cut the hyperactive nerves that are causing my legs to be so tight. This allowed my legs the freedom to take the steps to a vertical life!! This blog is a place to follow that journey.
About an hour ago James stood for 5 seconds in our living room. I never thought that time could stop for just 5 simple seconds. I feel like God knew that I needed some encouragement and to be shown just a hint of the plan.
